Module 5

Ashley,
I have always enjoyed reading your blogs. You have so much detail and you are so clear with what you are were writing about. I think that it is so important to have Early Childhood. Reading your information only made it more clear on why it is needed for children. I think that as teachers we are going to struggle at this age of teaching these children because some have never been in a school setting. I think that it was really good experience for you that you were able to see some of the parent teacher conferences. Some people including myself have never had the opportunity to witness those in the classroom we have observed in. People who have not been able to sit in with the conferences might be nerve racking for when their first conferences come a long because they have never watched what has happened in the past. Good luck to you!! -Ashley Milam

Charity,
It sounds like this class and all of the observations went really well for you this quarter! It sounds like you have really learned a lot from this experience and gained a lot of knowledge. I have enjoyed reading your work throughout the quarter. I think that it was awesome that you were able to sit in during an IEP meeting. I have always wanted to do that to see how the parents react, teachers, etc. I think that will prepare you for future meetings inside the school districts. To your recent post in module five, that is such a sad experience. It does show a lot for all of the teachers to go along with their day. I think that a lot of one on one with the children should be happening to make sure that they are okay or if they need to talk. It is not only so difficult for the family but also for the teachers because they are with that child everyday and to see him/her grieve is a difficult process. All the teacher can do is to be their for the children and to be patient. Just like every child is different, everyone’s grieving process is also different. The teachers are not only there to teach and send the kids home after a long day. They grow bonds with the students and families so that is why it is so difficult for the teachers. Again, I am sorry but I am glad you have learned so much from this quarter and had great observations. Good Luck to you in the future! -Ashley Milam
